Grants and funding

There is financial help from the government when employing a person with a disability.

Access to Work

Access to Work is a scheme designed to pay towards the additioanl costs incurred with the employment of a disabled worker. For example, it can cover the cost of equipment, adapting premises or a support worker as well as the cost of getting to work. It is available for existing employees, those previously unemployed and the self-employed. Basically, it is available for workers who have a disability or health condition that stops them from being able to do parts of their job. The support is individualised for the disabled person.

The Access to Work scheme is administered by the Disability Employment Adviser (DEA) at your local Jobcentre.
