Conservative estimates suggest that at any given time, 1 in 7 of the population will be managing a physical or mental disability. Added to this, unemployment among disability groups is significantly higher than among non-disabled.
In North London, the DSN is working collaboratively with a wide range of local organisations to develop better pathways into work for unemployed disabled people.
Launched in early 2006, the DSN aims to provide a single access point for any disability employment related matter.
The DSN is for unemployed disabled people seeking routes into employment, employers and employer groups, and service delivery organisations from both the private and voluntary sectors.
The DSN is represented on key forums both at a local and national level.
